With both the U.S. House and Senate clearing a major hurdle by passing the budget resolution, all eyes are shifting to tax as members continue negotiating ways to fund $4T worth of expiring tax cuts. During this time, we are requesting credit unions engage their employees to write to Congress and urge the preservation of the unique structure of credit unions. Defending our tax status ensures credit unions can continue to serve the more than 140 million members nationwide.

FinCEN and the CFTC are sounding the alarm on the rise of relationship investment scams, which often begin with a wrong-number text or dating app chat and have cost victims over $650 million in 2023. Credit Unions are reminded to stay alert and file timely reports to help crack down on these fast-growing schemes.
Foundation
The Credit Union Impact Foundation has opened the application portal for the Growth and Impact Grant Program. This program includes three distinct grant opportunities: the Community Impact Grant Program, powered by Vizo Financial, and the Credit Union Development Grant Program and Professional Development Grant Program.
Stay Connected
The League has launched the Office of Small Credit Unions to support credit unions with assets of $150 million and under. This initiative provides tailored resources to help small credit unions navigate industry challenges and thrive. Offerings include online training, personalized consultations, a collaborative online network, and networking events. By fostering collaboration and delivering essential tools, the office empowers small credit unions to grow, adapt, and continue serving their communities.
